• Can I camp for free with a motorhome near Las Vegas?

  Yes, on public land managed by the BLM, usually for up to 14 days, with no services such as water or hookups. You cannot sleep in your RV on the street on the Strip: use an RV park. Parking lots of casinos or supermarkets depend on each place, so ask and look for signs.

• When is the best time for a motorhome trip in the Southwest?

  Spring and fall are the best times, with pleasant temperatures in most parks. Summer is very hot, especially in Las Vegas and Death Valley, and the monsoon from July to September brings sudden storms. Winter is mild in Las Vegas but cold, and sometimes snowy, at places like Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon South Rim. Rentals are busiest from June to August, so book early.

  You drive on the right, speed limits are in mph and fuel is sold by the gallon. At many pumps a foreign card asks for a ZIP code: pay inside before you fill up.
